Three stagnant hours into a transpacific flight, tearfully dejected, using every fiber of my being not to completely bawl through the sleeping mask. Three weeks beforehand I forcefully left behind my darkest weeks and set off on an excursion that would take me as far away as possible. Between these two points I had accepted a false sense of happiness within myself, but now, reflecting on my return home, I feared the mental state awaiting me. This is what I faced five years ago at this exact moment.
While that chance meeting with the Sunday morning moon began the slow burn of excruciation, culminating with my longest day and preceding night, I could not realize what was actually happening to me. It was a metamorphosis, a personal enlightenment. These moments would set me up for the next chapter of life, a great realignment, content and at peace.
The second and final piece as Solukaze, Antipodal Enlightenment, is the soundtrack to this important and pivotal period in time. Twenty minutes of ambient, minimal pianos, bass, and guitars slowly building into lush and full orchestration. All of this set to the backdrop of field recordings taken around Brisbane, Australia.
This release also includes How Good Is Living, a long track split up into two parts due to Bandcamp limitations, consisting of the raw field recordings. Some slight noise reduction, eq, compression, and limiting was done on these to make them somewhat consistent for listening. Field recording listing below.
